The School of Business, Computing, Social Sciences (BCSS) has witnessed a significant rise in postgraduate student numbers across its portfolio of programmes (Masters, PhD, DBA, Professional Doctorates, Collaborative Provision). In addition, the BCSS has recently launched a suite of online courses focussing on MBA online and MSc Computer Sciences online.

 

In order to support the growth in PG provision and the newly-established online degrees, we are seeking to appoint a colleague to undertake the role of Postgraduate Quality and Student Success Lead.

 

The role is focussed on providing specific leadership on all aspects of quality assurance for our postgraduate provision, and to advise and lead on processes and outcomes that relate to postgraduate student success. Our postgraduate student body is diverse, consisting of a mix of home and international students many of whom are on research degrees, or online degrees.

 

This role sits in the Senior Management Team of the School. It reports to the Head of School, and its remit is parallel to that of the Associate Head of School, although the latter has a broader role that encompasses Foundation Year, Undergraduate Provision, Apprenticeships and overall oversight of Quality Assurance and Student Success in the School.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for working closely with staff to implement strategies that improve PTES results and ACE outcomes. In consultation with the Associate Head of School for Quality and Student Success, you will drive forward a clear and well-defined strategy that supports our students’ success. This will include developing and implementing quality assurance protocols that support our students during their time with us, and prepare them for the best possible start in their professional careers.

 

Furthermore, you will be passionate about engagement between staff, students and at times, external bodies. Finally, you will have a desire to make sure we are embedding  an inclusive environment for staff and students to feel empowered to share and learn about each other’s culture, heritage, and identities.
