Description
The position is a fixed term 12-month contract which we are open to the post being part time or full time up to 37 hours per week. Due to the nature of the role you will be expected to work, as required flexibly across any of the campuses the University occupies in Cheltenham or Gloucester
The University’s Estates Department manages the grounds of our picturesque Park Campus in Cheltenham. The campus has almost 1000 trees, a small lake, and many lawns with a variety of shrubs and hedges. We are looking for someone with Grounds maintenance experience to join our team to help maintenance the campus.
As Grounds Person you will work with colleagues across the Estates team to maintain up keep of the apperance the university. This will include, but not limited to
- Grass and hedge cutting
- Maintaining clear pathways and community areas.
- Ensuring and maintain and safe envirorment for our staff and student.
- Complete risk assessments for the univeristy estate, esclating issue to management where applicable.
You will work well as part of a team and use your initiative to complete tasks within deadlines.
Amongst a range of requirements detailed in the Job Description and Person Specification you must be able to demonstrate:
- relevant experience in working within grounds/gardening.
- competency and knowledge of using a range of grounds equipment, e.g. mowers, strimmers and hedge cutters.
- hold a full current driving licence.
- Understand and demonstrate the importance of health and safety within the workplace.
Closing date - Wednesday 12pm 9th July
Interview date - Tuesday 15th- the interview will be broken into two sections, an interview as well as a half day practical assessment to enable us to see assess your abilities and how you work with our team.
