Description

Internal Only

2 year fixed term contract

Open to colleagues who can accommodate 0.2FTE in their workload.

This is principally remote working. However, you may be required to work or be based at any premises the University occupies, and you may be required to work at any University site or any other reasonable location where the University is undertaking its business. The university does have an agile working policy, and this requires the postholder to be based in the UK.

The University of Gloucestershire will be launching a suite of online MBA courses in September 2025. We are looking for a colleague who can contribute to the design of these courses, then lead their delivery.

We are expecting to launch the MBA courses online with a small number of candidates in the first year. We will be recruiting 6 cohorts per year.

We are seeking an experienced academic who can lead and champion the development, progress, enhancement and delivery of the suite of MBA online programmes in collaboration with HEP, providing academic direction within the context of the Academic Strategy and the specific priorities of the School. Specifically, we value expertise in online education, and experience of working with mature students.

The course lead will work closely with the Associate Head of School (Quality and Student Success) to provide leadership on teaching, learning and assessment at course level. They will work intensively with students and with colleagues who teach and support learning on the course, as well as other key stakeholders.

The course lead will ensure a continuous focus on enhancement to develop and maintain an academic provision that delivers a transformational learning experience for students.

About the course and our approach

The MBA online has been carefully designed to include synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities. In the first year of its launch, it will target part-time learners who register for one module at a time. The course is structured around a carousel model that allows for 6 entry points per year.

In the first few months of their appointment, the course lead will work closely with the Instructional Designers and with module tutors in order to finalise the core modules, and the orientation information. The VLE we are using is Canvas, and we expect the course leader to be conversant in this, or a comparable, platform.

Once the course is launched, and in addition to fulfilling the main duties outlined below, the course leader will put in place a programme of module development that allows tutors to propose new modules, to design and to record their content. The course lead will support the implementation of new modules and the continuous development of this online course.

Due to the nature of this role, we can only consider applications from those who FTE will allow to take on a 0.2 FTE with not impact to their current workload.
