The School of Business, Computing, and Social Sciences is located across three campuses within Cheltenham and Gloucester which provide inspiring learning and teaching environments.
This post will be based in the modern Osxtalls campus with state-of-the-art technology, collaborative learning spaces and a dynamic, supportive and enthusiastic team of educators.
The school's strategic aims are founded in social justice and sustainability and delivered through creative and innovative teaching and the development of external relationships and connections.
We pride ourselves on our support for students and aid students in their employability and personal growth, through innovative pedagogy developments and real-world engagements in our programmes.
Recent years have seen further development of our supportive and creative research environment around Business, Cyber, Artificial Intelligence and Technology, resulting in a successful submission to REF2021 under UoA12, 17 and 21.
Members of our team have had increasing success in securing grant or consultancy funding, and in generating research impact by engaging with external stakeholders. Opportunities to lead and support in activities of this sort are regularly available to interested staff.
About the role
The School of Business, Computing and Social Sciences, at the University of Gloucestershire is seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Strategic Operations to join our dynamic, professionally engaged, and student-focused Gloucestershire Business School.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong specialism in Management Accounting, and expertise in related areas such as Performance Management and Business Strategic Analysis. These areas will form the core teaching responsibilities across all undergraduate levels. Expertise or a strong interest in Taxation would be an additional advantage.
There will also be opportunities to contribute to other areas within Accounting and Finance, including Audit, Sustainability, and Forensic Accounting, as well as Business Accounting modules delivered to business and apprenticeship students.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute across a range of programmes, including undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, our expanding degree apprenticeship provision, and business-facing education developed in collaboration with external partners.
Applicants should hold either:
- a relevant postgraduate qualification
or - a recognised professional accounting qualification (such as ACCA, ACA, or CIMA),
alongside relevant academic and/or industry experience that demonstrates a strong foundation for delivering high-quality, practice-informed teaching and learning.
Based at our vibrant Oxstalls Campus in Gloucester, you will become part of a supportive and collaborative academic community. There is also the opportunity to engage in applied research and scholarly activity through the Finance in Society Research Institute, developed in partnership with St. James’s Place Wealth Management, which promotes finance education that delivers meaningful impact to business and society.
