Description
External Members of the University Council (Governing Body)
The University is seeking to appoint new non-executive external members to join the University Council.
The University Council is the governing body of the University, responsible for setting the general strategic direction of the institution; monitoring institutional performance; and providing strategic oversight of its finances, property and investments.
We seek council members from a wide range of backgrounds to ensure that the Council is reflective of the diversity of the University community and to benefit from the heritage and life experiences of individuals from our local communities and the wider region. We are committed to improving the gender balance on the Council, and the membership from among Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups.
New members of Council will be successful strategic thinkers, with an exceptional record of achievement in one of the following areas:
- higher education and academic transformation and assurance,
- digital transformation and change management, or
- estates development and commercial growth
Applications are therefore invited from individuals who share our passion for higher education and who can help us strengthen our connections with businesses, employers, and communities locally and nationally by acting as ambassadors for the University.
We positively encourage and particularly welcome applications from groups that are under-represented.
You can find out more about the opportunity visiting our Council Member page.
How to apply
Applications should consist of a letter addressing the criteria in the role description and person specification (no more than 2 sides of A4) and a full curriculum vitae (no more than 4 sides of A4), and should be sent to Jess Lawson at jlawson1@glos.ac.uk.
For an informal discussion with Chief Financial Officer about the role please contact Nicky Partridge at npartridge@glos.ac.uk.
Closing date: Sunday 26 January 2025
Interview date: week commencing 3 February 2025
We are committed to equity, advancing equality, and valuing diversity in all of our practices. To support this, we particularly welcome applications from people who can enhance the diversity of the Council’s membership
The role is not remunerated, although reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
