This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will be expected to work 2-3 days a week on campus.
About the school or department
You’ll be part of the Marketing and External Engagement Directorate responsible for a range of university-wide activities which includes teams responsible for organising student recruitment activities, managing the external website; design and digital content creation; campaign management and cycle activity; media liaison via the press office; corporate social media; internal comms for students; corporate events; alumni relations; and external stakeholder management.
Our student recruitment function comprises of the following teams: Student Recruitment and Events, Schools Liaison and Outreach, Admissions and Applicant Experience. Together these teams work with academic schools to deliver on the university’s undergraduate and postgraduate recruitment objectives and to meet our widening participation targets. Data and evidenceinforms decisions to ensure that an efficient and effective service is provided to our customers.
Working in a competitive environment you’ll be joining an award-winning Student Recruitment team tasked to deliver a wide range of highly targeted undergraduate and postgraduate domestic/home recruitment activities. These will focus on key milestones in a prospective student’s journey, from initial enquiry, through to enrolment and will include the organisation of events such as open days, offer holder days, interview days and HE exhibitions.
About the role
Working within our busy, award-winning Student Recruitment Events team you will have an understanding of the UK higher education sector and the student recruitment cycle and will play a key role in supporting the delivery of excellent student focused activities and events both on and off campus for domestic undergraduate and postgraduate prospective students. These events may be in person or delivered online.
You will have previous event organisation or front of house experience and a strong customer focussed approach to your work to ensure you are delivering excellent customer service.
Supporting colleagues with activities to boost bookings at recruitment events and to ensure visitors receive a great experience will also be part of this role.
Having the ability to pay attention to detail, carry out administrative tasks in an organised manner and be a team player will all be key to the success of this role. You will also have experience of using Excel for data management purposes.
You will work with a range of academic schools, professional services teams and student ambassadors to ensure our events are of the highest standard and therefore will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong, positive and effective working relationships.
This role will also require you to work with the Student Ambassador Coordinator on day-to-day administrative tasks to support the management of the Student Ambassador scheme. This will include managing the inbox, promoting job opportunities and booking student ambassadors to the roles, processing timesheets, and using a portal management system on a daily basis.
At designated times during the year you will also support with the recruitment, selection, interviewing, induction and training of student ambassadors joining the scheme.
This role will require you to work at our recruitment events which can take place at the weekend and evenings. On occasions this may include travel within the UK andthe need to stay away from home.
