Marketing & External Relations

Base location will be Pittville Student Village

1.0FTE, 37 hours per week

 

About the school or department

You’ll be part of the Marketing and External Engagement Directorate responsible for a range of university-wide activities which includes teams responsible for organising student recruitment activities, managing the external website; design and digital content creation; campaign management and cycle activity; media liaison via the press office; corporate social media; internal comms for students; corporate events; alumni relations; and external stakeholder management.

 

Our student recruitment function comprises of the following teams: Student Recruitment Events, Schools Liaison and Outreach, Admissions and Applicant Experience. Together these teams work with academic schools to deliver on the university’s undergraduate and postgraduate recruitment objectives and to meet our widening participation targets. Data and evidence constantly informs our decisions to ensure that an efficient and effective service is provided to our customers.

 

About the role

The Student Recruitment and Outreach Team is seeking an inspiring Outreach and Student Recruitment Officer to support students to make informed decisions about university and HE.

 

You will have an understanding of the UK higher education sector and be able to provide pre-entry advice and guidance on the benefits of higher education and applying to university, in particular the University of Gloucestershire.

 

Working within our busy team, you’ll play a critical role in coordinating, promoting and delivering a range of on and off-campus events for schools and colleges including subject based activities and general HE guidance sessions to support academic schools with their student recruitment and outreach plans.

 

You will work with a range of academic colleagues and professional services teams to ensure our events are of the highest standard and therefore will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong, positive and effective working relationships. 

 

You will have previous event organisation experience, a strong customer focussed approach to your work and an enthusiastic attitude when designing and delivering presentations and workshops for a range of students and their advisers/parents/carers.

 

You will also play a lead role in one or more of the following key recruitment events: summer residentials; HE preparation days; pre-16 aspiration days 

 

Building relationships with contacts in schools and colleges for your subject areas will be key to supporting the University’s student recruitment and widening participation targets.

 

As part of the team you will have excellent project management, organisational and administration skills to plan, deliver and evaluate activities and make recommendations for continuous improvement. 

 

This role will require you to work at our recruitment events which can take place at the weekend and evenings. On occasions this may include travel within the UK.
