About the school or department
The School of Business, Computing, and Social Science is located across three campuses within Cheltenham and Gloucester which provide inspiring learning and teaching environments. This post will be based in the regency style Park Campus, Cheltenham which is home to state-of-the-art technology, collaborative learning spaces and a dynamic team of educators.
The school's strategic aims are founded in social justice and delivered through creative and innovative teaching and the development of external relationships. We pride ourselves on our support for students and aiding students in their employability and personal growth, through innovative pedagogy developments and real-world engagements in our programmes.
Recent years have seen the development of a supportive and creative research environment, resulting in a successful submission to REF2021 under UoA12, 17 and 21. Members of our team have had increasing success in securing grant or consultancy funding, and in generating research impact by engaging with external stakeholders.
About the role
We are looking to appoint a new member of staff in the Technical and Applied Computing subject area to join our dynamic, successful, and expanding community. You will be based at our beautiful Park Campus in Cheltenham which is located at the heart of the golden valley and GCHQ.
The Technical and Applied Computing subject area is part of the University of Gloucestershire’s School of Business, Computing and Social Sciences, where we have an opportunity for a talented individual with a real flair for teaching and research to join the team. A focus for the University is preparing students for their future career and our links with industry are key to this.
We are looking for applications from Computing specialists who will ideally have experience of teaching in Higher Education and have an interest in research and development in a Computer Science area. You should have technical and research skills in networking, cybersecurity, programming and/or data science. You will be supporting the delivery of a range of modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
It is desirable that you have experience in cloud security, Blockchain or the security information management. You must also have a demonstrable high level of technical skills and excellence in the use of Windows and Linux-based operating systems.
