About the team
The Financial Control and Operational Management team are the team responsible for financial control and treasury management, statutory reporting, tax, grants, payroll & pensions and financial operations. They are pivotal to ensuring all financial administration and processing is undertaken in a controlled and efficient manner as well developing transparent & concise policies and procedures to facilitate the university’s statutory & regulatory compliance requirements.

About the role
Reporting into the Financial Controller, the Payroll and Pensions Manager is central to the running, processing and maintenance of all payroll processing and pension administration of the university defined benefit schemes. Managing a small team of administrators, you will be responsible for ensuring that a high-quality service is always provided to staff and students.
Alongside the running of the team, you will also take a proactive approach in keeping up to date with regulatory or legislation changes and ensuring these changes are reflected in our practices and make sure our processes are still fit for purpose. Furthermore, you will take accountability for reviewing our technology and make sure functionalities are in line with internal and external requirements.
This is an operational management role, whereby we are seeking a focused leader who is happy to roll up their sleeves when needed. You will have experience of working in a similar role and have the ability to demonstrate how you have worked with stakeholders across and organisation to foster great working relationships.
