Oxstalls Campus, Gloucester
There is a requirement that the successful candidate will be a registered social worker with PEPs 2 qualification and hold a formal teaching qualification or be willing to work towards the University’s Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice.
Working closely with multiple partner organisations our graduates will get a broad overview of Social Work in Gloucestershire and beyond, supported with theory and simulation at our purpose-built Health and Social Care facilities based at Oxstalls campus.
You will be joining a university where Health and Social Care and Health promotion are part of our everyday business, be it the extensive and accessible wellbeing and research facilities at the purpose-built Oxstalls campus, the range of scholarships on offer for students, or the huge array of social and sports clubs available to our students. Located in the heart of Gloucester, Oxstalls is just 15 minutes’ walk from the city centre, Gloucester quays and Kingsholm rugby stadium.
This exciting Coach in Practice post will provide the opportunity for the right person to work in an expanding Social Work and Social Care team at the University of Gloucestershire. If you are passionate and confident in your ability to transfer knowledge to pre-registration students in both a practice and classroom setting, then this is the role for you. The successful applicant will work closely with the Social Work and Social Care team, university placement team, and our various local partners to ensure the curriculum reflects contemporary practice and policy, and ensure best practice is reflected in the student’s education, with a focus on supporting Social Work apprenticeship students through their programme and completing associated individual learner reviews and direct observations.
This role offers the opportunity to use a coaching approach to supporting students and supervisors in practice and contribute to the development of new and existing placement areas. You will work closely with the Academic Subject Leaders, strategic placement lead, placement coordinators and our collaborative partners to deliver the vision for social work education in Gloucestershire.
The School of Health+ will be relocating from its current premises on Oxstalls Campus to the City Campus, a new development for the University that will be a focal point of Gloucester City, and a modern centre for teaching learning and community partnerships.
