An excellent opportunity for a highly skilled recent graduate, associate  research fellow to manage and carry out this challenging and interesting industrial funded research and knowledge transfer project with Iungo Solutions Ltd, under the supervision of Professor Hassan Chizari from the University of Gloucestershire.

iungo Solutions is an independent training provider, specialising in digital and green skills. iungo work with employers, education, and talent to design and deliver immersive employer-led training programmes for key sectors such as FinTech, MedTech, Semiconductors and Digital Creativity.

About the school or department

The University of Gloucestershire delivers a diverse range of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Courses centered around the application of computing in commercial, technical and creative fields. Research degrees, leading to the awards of MSc/MPhil/PhD, and a professional Doctorate in Business Management (DBA) are offered in a variety of computing, digital marketing and sales, data science, IT, games and multimedia subjects. The course portfolio continues to expand, as does the range of research and consultancy services we offer to local businesses.

The vision for this KTP is to optimise the recruitment and retention of learners for higher technical training provision in new and emerging priority sectors. The project will develop a bi-directional recommendation engine which uses machine learning to make suggestions as to a given candidates career trajectory over a 5 year plus time scale. Recommendations will be created for available Skills Bootcamps, apprenticeships and training programmes, whilst simultaneously making a recommendation as to the appropriateness of training programmes for particular candidates.

About the role

The overall aim of this project is to research and design a bi-directional recommendation engine for training courses and interested candidates. This system will help to improve cost efficiencies and add value both for the iungo solutions and their customers.  It is expected that the system will include a comprehensive dashboard which will allow relevant members of staff at iungo to gain insights into how it is operating, and be well engineered for ongoing improvements as technology allows.

The University is committed to building a diverse and inclusive staff community and welcomes applications from currently under-represented sections of our workforce. We are proud to be a Disability Confident Leader, guaranteeing an interview to everyone who meets the definition of disability set out in the Equality Act 2010 and the essential criteria contained within the person specification.
