Description
External Members of the University Council (Governing Body)
The University Council is seeking to appoint a new non-executive external member. It is hoped that the new Council member will have expertise in Higher education and/or estates and property development as such skills are currently not represented within the membership and would be beneficial given the University’s on-going need for estates development.
Applications are therefore invited from individuals with these backgrounds as well as a strong personal commitment to higher education and the success of our students and staff; with a successful track record of leadership and achievement in their professional lives; with an understanding of the leadership and management challenges in large, complex organisations; and experience of non-executive roles at Board level.
The primary responsibilities of Council include setting the mission and strategy of the University, monitoring institutional performance to ensure financial sustainability and the achievement of the University’s goals, and ensuring sound corporate governance. The role is not remunerated, although reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
You can find out more about the opportunity visiting our Council Member page.
How to apply
Applications should consist of a letter addressing the criteria in the role description and person specification (no more than 2 sides of A4) and a full curriculum vitae (no more than 4 sides of A4), and should be sent to Penny Gravestock at pennygravestock@glos.ac.uk.
For an informal discussion with Chief Financial Officer about the role please contact Penny Gravestock
Closing date. Monday 28 October, 12 noon
