Part Time Hourly Paid Lecturer, Photography

Department: School of Arts

Base Location: Hardwick Campus, Cheltenham

The School of Arts comprises a vibrant community of practitioners and scholars who together deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses across five subject areas: Art, Performing Arts and Production, Design, Architecture & Constructed Environments & Photography. Research and postgraduate research are part of the school’s environment, working across subjects and levels.

The purpose of this role

Applications are sought for the position of Associate Lecturer in Photography. We are seeking lecturers who can supplement our core teaching team in the academic year 22-23 and who can deliver:

  • Level 4 history and theory of photography, including developing key critical thinking and study skills
  • Level 5 history and theory
  • Level 6 dissertation supervision

The ideal candidate will have relevant qualifications in photography at both under- and postgraduate levels and be committed to teaching in a student-centred environment. Applicants will need to be passionate about, and committed to, the development of students and will want to provide excellent pedagogic opportunities for learning and development. An understanding of, and an ability to deliver, engaging learning and teaching is essential for both the level 4 and 5 modules.

Applicants will be excited about the ways in which students learn, and how photography and the creative industries are developing. Bringing an awareness of how ideas, research and creative thinking and how this can stimulate students’ practice is essential.
