PhD
Studentship in Creative Industries
School of
Creative Industries
Park
Campus, Cheltenham
Description
The University of Gloucestershire’s School of Creative Industries
is dedicated to broadening the range of voices heard in British culture
(especially perspectives that are often marginalized) and to critically
examining the functions of the creative industries. To that end, we invite
applications to apply for our new studentship position, starting on 01/03/2022, which will be allied to one of our research priorities, currently configured and shaped around the
theme of ‘Under-represented voices in the
Creative Industries’. This may focus on age, gender, race or ethnicity and
can be a creative practice as research or theoretical/applied research.
We are therefore keen to hear proposals from
community film makers, digital story practitioners and cultural studies and
popular music studies students. Located within
the School of Creative Industries at The University of Gloucestershire the
studentship offers the chance to work within a network of researchers working
across disciplinary boundaries, foregrounding critical, creative and applied
modes of research. We are especially interested
in interdisciplinarity and are keen to hear from applicants who are attracted
to working in a collaborative knowledge exchange context.
This opportunity to provide funding for a PhD student working in
the specific field of ‘Under-represented voices in the
Creative Industries’ not only allows us to support them as an individual but
provides the school with the opportunity to expose our wider student body to
important new work in this field as it develops.
The successful applicant will contribute to the
support and education of undergraduate and postgraduate taught students through
practical technical demonstration in their specialist field, guest lectures and
seminars and, if appropriate, a mentoring role with student
filmmakers/musicians.
Applicants must have a BA Hons of at least 2.1 standard or
equivalent and a Masters’ Degree in a relevant discipline.
