We are seeking to recruit two part time (0.5 FTE, 18.5 hours per week) accredited therapists (BACP, UKCP, BCP, BPS or equivalent) to join an established counselling team working with students with complex and wide-ranging issues.

You will carry a caseload of individual clients, provide Counselling Drop-in sessions and contribute to on-going service development and provision. The Counselling Service is part of a wider Student Services team in a University committed to supporting students.

The ideal candidate will have a recognised qualification in counselling or psychotherapy (min. Diploma level 5) and substantial post qualification experience. This must include significant experience of working within a brief time-limited counselling framework, and proven ability to manage risk.

You will ideally have experience and/or understanding of issues within the HE sector and their impact on counselling in a University setting. Team work is highly valued and you will demonstrate an understanding of a range of clinical perspectives, and the ability to value and work alongside a variety of therapeutic approaches and be a team player.

We recognise the value of a diverse team and we particularly welcome applications from candidates from underrepresented groups.

It is anticipated that the majority of work will beundertaken on campus.  However, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic the Service is currently offering some online counselling sessions and experience of providing online counselling is desirable.

Informal enquiries prior to application may be made to:

Anna Hay, Head of Student Wellbeing: ahay@glos.ac.uk or
Fiona Mc Donald, Clinical Lead: fmcdonald@glos.ac.uk

An enhanced DBS Certificate is required for this post and will be sought in the event of a successful application.

Closing Date: 11 August 2021

Interview Date: 08 September 2021

The University understands the benefits of recruiting a diverse range of people and welcome applications from under-represented sections of the community.

We are proud to be a Disability Confident Leader, guaranteeing to offer an interview to anyone who meets the definition of disability set out in the Equality Act 2010 and who meets all of the essential criteria contained within the person specification.
