Description
At
the University of Gloucestershire, we are dedicated to the wellbeing of our
students and our community. We aspire to enable every student to achieve their
full potential, through outstanding support for their learning and by giving
them a broad and rich experience which prepares them well for rewarding lives
and successful careers.
We
pride ourselves on being an academic community which values positive human
relationships, promoting belonging, and supporting individuals to flourish. In
challenging times for the university sector, we continue to thrive, achieving
real progress and success in student recruitment and satisfaction, graduate
employment, a growing portfolio of high-quality applied research, and community
impact.
The
Deputy Vice-Chancellor works closely with the Vice-Chancellor and is a key
member of the University’s executive committee. The DVC provides leadership for
the strategic direction and operational planning for all academic activities,
including the successful development and delivery of the academic portfolio
across the University. The DVC manages and supports the Heads of our eight
Academic Schools and works with colleagues to support successful student
recruitment, the delivery of excellent teaching and learning, an outstanding
student experience, and strong graduate outcomes, as well as research and
community impact. This role has a wide reach and scope, playing a leading part
in shaping the overall academic endeavour and direction of the University, as
well as acting as an ambassador and champion for the institution, working with
external partners.
We are looking for someone who can engage, motivate and inspire a wide range of colleagues and partners, bringing creativity, ambition and energy to the role. You will need credible academic standing, with a successful track record of leadership, planning and resource management in an academic institution. You will be committed to delivering the highest quality of teaching and learning for students, building on the distinctive character and strengths of the University. You will value the role the University plays in promoting the wellbeing of our communities, and have the personal qualities, drive and enthusiasm to advance the mission of the University of Gloucestershire.
The University understands the benefits of recruiting a diverse range of people and we select the best possible on merit alone. We welcome applications from under-represented sections of the community.
We are proud to be a Disability Confident Leader, guaranteeing to offer an interview to anyone who meets the definition of disability set out in the Equality Act 2010 and who meets all of the essential criteria contained within the person specification.
If
you are interested in developing your career at a forward-thinking, ambitious
university with a real commitment to our students and our community, we look
forward to hearing from you.
