Description

The School of Natural and Social Sciences at University of Gloucestershire is seeking to appoint two part-time Graduate Assistants to fixed term posts (3 years) in Psychology to make a significant contribution to the subject of Psychological Sciences and the wider School environment. 

The main responsibilities of the Graduate Assistants will be to assist Lecturers during practical sessions, to deliver some practical sessions and seminars based on material provided by lecturing staff, and to assist with student assessment while under close supervision.  They will also contribute to the development of teaching materials including preparation of online learning resources, laboratory exercises, and activities to be used during recruitment and outreach events.   They will be expected to undertake some training to support development of their skills to fulfil the role.

The successful candidates should demonstrate significant understanding in one of Forensic Psychology, Health Psychology or Cognitive Neuroscience.  Strong skills in research methods (qualitative and/or quantitative) will be a particular asset.

The post-holders will be expected to enrol on a MSc by Research at the University to conduct a research project in one of Forensic Psychology, Health Psychology or Cognitive Neuroscience.  They will undertake this degree alongside their Graduate Assistant post and the School will pay the postgraduate research degree tuition fees for part-time enrolment over three years.  This benefit is subject to continuing employment in post, and satisfactory progress on the research degree.  A list of potential research topics is available as part of the recruitment package and applicants should include in their application a paragraph outlining their interest in one of those topics.

These positions are available for a start in October 2020.
