Description

Forest Green Rovers FC are offering a funded bursary opportunity in partnership with University of Gloucestershire for a student interested in working as a data analyst whilst undertaking an MSc in Sports Performance Analysis at the University of Gloucestershire.

The bursary will cover £3400 of course fee costs for full-time study on the MSc Sports Performance Analysis course (Home/EU students; 1 year max) and in exchange, the successful applicant will work within Forest Green Rovers FC Academy. The successful candidate will be working closely with both the 1st Team’s match and recruitment analysts and Sports Science departments to manage and analyse data collected from GPS, fitness testing and player statistics. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain invaluable experience across both Performance Analysis and Sport Science departments in a recruitment and data analyst role.

Overview

Time: It is anticipated that the placement will require the successful candidate to be available for the equivalent of 2 training days per week and match day. It should be noted that the nature of the placement is likely to require attendance during evenings, at weekends and bank holidays.

The candidate will be based predominantly at the University of Gloucestershire and Forest Green Rovers FC. It may also include travel to other sites within England
Duration: The studentship will start September 2020 and last for a maximum of 1 year.

Key Responsibilities

·         Support the Analysis team with filming of games and training.

·         Collect and analyse subjective data such as wellness and RPE.

·         Collect and analyse physical data from tracking systems such as GPS and heart rate. 

·         Manage and update the Athlete Management System and other databases. 

·         Present physical and anthropometric data for staff and players.  

·         Run physical data reports as required by the Sports Science and Strength & Conditioning staff. 

Requirements

·         Have a passion to work in professional football.

·         Be a competent user of Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and word.

·         Have strong communication skills.

·         Flexible availability to work in the week and weekend.

·         Previous experience working within a professional sporting environment (Desirable)

  • The successful applicant will be expected to be independently accepted on the MSc Sports Performance Analysis course for the 2020/2021 Academic year, following the standard process for enrolment on this course.
  • The responsibility is on the applicant to ensure that they apply within the pre-determined timelines and achieve the entry level requirements for enrolment.
