Senior Lecturer in Digital Media (including Course Leadership for BA Digital Media)

1.0 FTE

Based at our Park Campus, Cheltenham

Having launched our new undergraduate course in Digital Media, we are now looking to appoint a full-time senior lecturer in Digital Media at the University of Gloucestershire.

The post will also include Course Leadership.

We are looking for a forward-thinking Web and App design specialist, with an established academic practice that includes teaching, module leadership, student support and administration, along with a background in two of the following:

UX Design / Design Thinking
Interaction Design
Common programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, C/C++, Swift)
Design and production for immersive environments (VR / AR / MR)
Projection mapping
A public-facing creative practice that includes installation and participatory practices

The Media School at the University of Gloucestershire offers undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in Digital Media, Music, Journalism, Film, Television and Animation, and we have a growing number of research students working in areas that encompass the School's academic disciplines. Media School degrees reflect the vocational and critical breadth of our academic staff, along with our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion; and our learning programmes are designed to bring critical thinking to bear on contemporary cultures of making and production.

Recruiting to this post reflects the Media School’s commitment to the currency of its undergraduate and postgraduate portfolio. The introduction of the BA (Hons) in Digital Media enables our students to develop knowledge and expertise in a range of established, as well as emergent, audiovisual technologies. The course equips students to develop creative projects in immersive environments - including VR, AR and MR - interactive objects, and projection mapping, along with core skills in web and app design, audio and video production, graphics, and photography.

At the same time, Digital Media students learn and apply a set of contemporary design methodologies, including Design Sprints, UX Design and Design Thinking; enabling them to work with clients from the first year of their studies, and to employ these processes in live briefs, internships and placements in their final year.
