0.8 FTE fixed-term maternity cover for 10 months (January – November 2020).

The Library, Technology and Information Service (LTI) is seeking to recruit a Special Collections and University Archivist who will have operational responsibility for the Special Collections and Archives during a period of maternity cover.

You will be responsible for accessioning, cataloguing using AtoM and OCLC software, digitisation, delivering teaching sessions and promoting the collections to student groups and other service users. You will liaise with individuals and groups of stakeholders and facilitate student internships through the ‘Your Future Plan’ programme. There will be the opportunity to complete a cataloguing project whilst in post. You will also be responsible for monitoring environmental conditions in the storage facility and for the security and careful handling of collections.

The ideal candidate will have a postgraduate archive qualification and experience of working in a busy archive environment. Teaching experience is welcomed although the post provides the opportunity to gain valuable skills in this area. You must be able to routinely use ladders and kick-stools, retrieve books, boxes and artefacts and return them to high-density storage.
